50th Annivesary Celebration - Rialto Emmets Team of '62
A very enjoyable evening was had by all at the Liffey Gaels Clubhouse on Friday 25th May 2012.
Members of the victorious Rialto Emmets Team of '62 gathered to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of their success in winning the Shield all those years ago.
In the course of the evening a presentation of a beautiful engraved crystal bowl was made to Gerry O'Brien, on behalf of the team.
Gerry was the highly motivated mentor of the team in 1962. ________________________________________________________________________________________________
Below : Rialto Emmets Junior team 1961 who reached the Quarter Finals but were beaten by Donnycarney.
The Rialto Emmets team that won the Shield in 1962 was made up of the majority of the 1961 team in addition to Cecil Croly, Joe Perris (goalkeeper) & ? Kennedy (from Newcastle)
The Emmets beat Columbas (Crumlin) in the Shield final at O'Toole Park in 1962.
Rialto Emmets were coached and managed by Bro. Gerry O'Brien of James's St. CBS.
The encouragement and support given to the team by Gerry O'Brien during that hard fought campaign was amazing.
